Poor Situation Awareness: How To Cope With It?

As a VIP flight attendant, situational awareness is one of the key skills to cultivate, nurture, and apply daily.

In essence, it involves the ability to observe a situation, comprehend it, and adjust your communication, behavior, and presence accordingly.

Unfortunately, this was not the case during one of my flights!

During a corporate management flight, we struggled to understand what was the cabin mood, attempting to gauge the cabin atmosphere while employing various strategies to restore a positive environment, but to no avail.

It was only shortly before landing that we discovered a significant event had occurred, requiring the attention of all the customers on board the private jet.

This occurrence drastically altered the cabin mood, shifting from a relaxed and calm atmosphere during boarding to one of agitation and nervousness. As a crew, we were informed of this situation too late to effectively address it.

While this particular flight may not have showcased my best performance, I gained valuable insights from the experience, pushing my emotional intelligence to new heights.

Indeed, challenging experiences can serve as valuable food for thought!
