If You Feel Unfit to Fly, Here’s What to Do
There’s a misconception that a VIP flight attendant cannot call in sick if they feel unwell before or during their duty on a private jet.
Let me clarify: this couldn’t be further from the truth!
Don’t hesitate to talk to your captain, the flight attendant manager, and your company’s operations department if you feel unfit to fly before starting your duty or during the rotation, even if you’re at a hotel.
There’s insurance in place to support you, and assistance or transportation can be arranged.
In the meantime, the pilots can depart without you onboard because on a jet with fewer than 20 seats, a flight attendant in the cabin is not mandatory.
While it’s an uncommon scenario, there might be instances where the pilots take off without you.
In such a case, it’s advisable to brief the pilots on how to deliver a quick service to the customers in this exceptional circumstance, keeping in mind they can’t be away from the flight deck for too long.
